Guyana’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China
BIODATA
Her Excellency Anyin Choo is a career diplomat with over two decades of experience in diplomacy, trade negotiations and business management. She was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to the People’s Republic of China in March 2021. She also holds concurrent non-residential Ambassadorial accreditations to the Republic of Singapore, the Republic of Korea and Japan.
Ambassador Choo holds an MBA in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Languages from the Beijing Language and Culture University and a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Guyana. She attended St. Roses High School, where she graduated as valedictorian in 1992.
Ambassador Choo served as Director of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation; Chargé d’ Affaires (a.i) at the Embassy of Guyana in Beijing from 2008 to 2010 and later as Deputy Head of Mission until 2011. She also served as Head of the Diaspora Unit and Director of Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In February 2018 she was appointed Guyana’s Consul General to Toronto, Canada until March 2021. Ambassador Choo also served on the Board of Directors of the Guyana Office for Investment (Go-Invest), the New Guyana Marketing Cooperation and the Executive Committee of the Chinese Association of Guyana as an Executive Member, then as a Special Advisor.
Ambassador Choo is married with three children.
