QUARANTINE INSPECTION & CERTIFICATION PROCEDURE
FOR THE EXPORT OF AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES.
1. All Exporters must register with the National Plant Protection Organisation (NPPO) Guyana.
2. An Import Permit issued by the Importing Country (if required) and any other supporting documents must be presented to the Quarantine Officer.
3. The export documents (export licence) obtained from the office of Ministry of Trade and Commerce and/or the C72 Customs documents from the Guyana Revenue Authority is submitted to the NPPO for approval/certification (approval stamp and signature) for the export of the indicated agricultural commodity; ( NOTE: the stamping of this document does not constitute Quarantine’s authorization to export).
4. Exports of fresh fruits and vegetables must be processed at the New Guyana Marketing Corporation (NGMC) packing facilities located at Sophia or Parika.
5. A formal request for Quarantine Inspection Services should be made seventy- two hours (72 hrs) prior to the proposed shipping date of all Agricultural Commodities and Regulated Articles.
6. A visual Phytosanitary Inspection and Certification of commodity is done by Quarantine Inspectors of the NPPO, Guyana;
7. A Phytosanitary Certificate is issued to validate the consignment, once all Phytosanitary conditions for export are met.
8. The commodity/ shipment is released for export.
