To Note:
All visa applicants must comply with the requirements below and must be in possession of a valid passport issued by their government.
*Visas are valid from the date of issue, for a period of one month to five years, depending on the type of visa obtained. Guyana currently issues Tourist, Business, Courtesy, Employment and Student visas to visitors, depending on the purpose of visit and length of stay. ‘Visa on Arrival’ for nationals travelling from countries where there is no Guyana Mission and Extensions of Stay (EoS) - for all category of visas, are granted at the discretion of the Immigration Office in Georgetown.
FOR PERSONS TRAVELLING FROM COUNTRIES WHOSE PASSPORT HOLDERS REQUIRE A VISA TO ENTER GUYANA AND WHO MAY BE UNABLE TO APPLY AT ANY OF GUYANA’S MISSIONS OR CONSULATES, VISAS MAY BE ISSUED ON ARRIVAL. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS ON THE REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURE.
*Payments are to be made in cash and are non-refundable. For passports sent to the Embassy by post, and to be returned to the sender, please include the appropriate postage fee.
*Guyanese citizens travelling on a foreign passport do not require a visa to visit Guyana, provided that the passport clearly indicates the place of birth to be ‘Guyana’ or a well-recognized place in Guyana such as Georgetown, Demerara, Essequibo, Berbice or Corentyne. If this is not the case, documentary proof of birth in Guyana must be presented to the Immigration authorities in Guyana, such proof being a birth certificate (both birth and marriage certificates in the case of a married woman) or an expired Guyana passport.

General Requirements for Visa Applications
A. For applicants in possession of an approval letter issued by Immigration Support Services, Ministry of Home Affairs of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana:
Applicants in possession of an approval letter from Immigration Support Services, Ministry of Home Affairs in Georgetown are to present a copy of said letter along with the following documents to the Embassy:-
1.Valid passport (with at least six (6) months validity)
2.Two (2) copies of the completed application form and two (2) recent passport - size (colour) photographs, photo background must be white
3.Two (2) copies of the bio-data page in passport
B. For applicants NOT in possession of an approval letter issued by Immigration Support Services, Ministry of Home Affairs of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana:
1.Valid Passport (with at least six (6) months validity)
2.Two (2) recent passport-size (colour) photographs (background of photos must be white) and two (2) copies of the completed application form
3.Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the visit; proof of other satisfactory arrangement for support while in Guyana – inclusive of a letter of invitation from the host in Guyana; letter from employer and, where applicable, business letter with certificate from the relevant authorities etc, attesting to the status of the business
4.Any other appropriate supporting document
Category of Visas and Specific Requirements
A. Business Visa
·Two (2) copies of the completed application form and photographs,photo background must be white
·A letter from the company stating the purpose and duration of the applicant’s visit
·A job letter stating the length of employment and position of the applicant
·A letter of invitation from the host in Guyana
·Certified approval letter from Immigration Support Services, Ministry of Home Affairs (if applicable)
·Two (2) copies of the bio-data page of the applicant’s passport
·Any other supporting documents which the Mission deems appropriate
Application Fee: RMB 980.00
Note:
(1) Business visas are issued only to those applicants who are owners of a business /company and those who have registered companies in Guyana
(2) Applicants who do not meet this requirement and are traveling to Guyana for other business purposes other than employment and study are advised to apply for a visitor/tourist visa.
(3) Business visa applicants may be required to present themselves to the Embassy for an interview.
B. Tourist Visa
·Two (2) copies of the completed application form and photographs,photo background must be white
·Proof of financial support
·Letter of invitation/sponsorship from host in Guyana
·Letter from a Travel Agency stating the program/itinerary (for group tours only)
·Two (2) copies of the bio-data page in the applicant’s passport
Application Fee: RMB 175.00
C. Courtesy Visas
·Letter of invitation
·Two (2) copies of the completed application form and photographs,photo background must be white
·Two (2) copies of the bio-data page in the applicant’s passport
Note: Courtesy visas are issued free of charge to visiting delegations, at the discretion of the Guyana Embassy。
D. Employment Visas
·Two (2) copies of the completed application form
·Passport with at least six(6) months validity
·Two (2) recent passport size colour photographs,photo background must be white
·Certified approval letter from Immigration Support Services, Ministry of Home Affairs (if applicable)
·Name and contact information of sponsor/employer as well as copies of the business registration or GRA compliance documents
Application Fee: RMB 980.00
E. Student Visas
·Two (2) copies of the completed application form
·Two (2) recent passport size colour photographs,photo background must be white
·Certified approval letter from Immigration Support Services, Ministry of Home Affairs (if applicable)
·Name and contact information (address, telephone and fax numbers) of a registered/accredited institution where studies will be done
·Copy of the acceptance letter signed by a competent authority at the institution
·Address and phone numbers of intended place of residence in Guyana
·Evidence of financial support
Application Fee: RMB 980.00
Note
- There is no assurance that a visa will be issued; any preparation or plan made for the journey would be done at the applicant’s own risk.
- Failure to complete the form in the appropriate manner or to provide the required supporting documents will result in a delay in the processing of the application.
- Applications should be submitted at least one (1) week in advance of the proposed date of travel. Additional time may be needed for applications from other Provinces.
- Permission for employment in Guyana must be obtained from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Georgetown. Employment is defined as a working engagement, paid or unpaid, and includes religion-related occupation.
- A visitor who, without permission, breaches the conditions of entry while in Guyana may be liable for prosecution and [or] deportation.
